Speak No Truth to Power: CBS Goes Cupcake With Pennsylvania AG on Vote Count

Posted on 05 November 2020

Voter fraud? Yawn. CBS This Morning showed yet again that journalists want to challenge those in power only when Republicans are involved. When given a chance to demand answers about vote counting in the ongoing presidential recount, co-host Anthony Mason instead offered a cupcake interview with Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro.   On the idea of accepting late ballots, Mason wondered, “The Trump campaign is asking the Supreme Court to join an appeal to throw owl mail-in ballots received up to three days after election day. Talk us through that law quickly if you can and why it exists?” He invited the partisan Democrat to hammer Donald Trump: “The President has already claimed that he's won Pennsylvania. What's your reaction to that?”     Not once did Mason ask about Shapiro’s shocking comments BEFORE the election that when votes are tallied, Trump will have lost. As Fox News explained: Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, found himself in hot water on social media after claiming that President Trump has lost the ability to win the battleground state, just over 24 hours before the polls close on Election Day. “If all the votes are added up in PA, Trump is going to lose,” Shapiro wrote on Twitter. “That’s why he’s working overtime to subtract as many votes as possible from this process.” … “[I]t seems highly unethical for the top law enforcement officer in one of the most important states to call the election before Election Day,” Conservative CNN contributor, Scott Jennings, tweeted. “This guy is the AG!” No real concern or focus on voter fraud claims by the CBS host. Instead, Shapiro was given a free hand to bash Trump. This is the kind of lapdog “journalism” that shows reporters don’t want to hold Democrats accountable. Only Republicans. The propaganda on CBS was sponsored by Xfinity and Tide. Click on the links to let them know what you think. A transcript of the questions is below. Click “expand” to read more. CBS This Morning 11/5/2020 7:30 AM ET ANTHONY MASON: Welcome back to CBS This Morning. And our continuing coverage of the 2020 election. This morning CBS News projects former vice president Joe Biden has 253 electoral votes and President Trump, 213. More than 140 million votes have been tallied. The most heavily populated states still in question is Pennsylvania. The President's lead there is narrowing with more mail-in ballots added to the totals. State law allows ballots that arrive as late as tomorrow to be counted if they're postmarked by election day. Trump campaign lawyers are demanding, quote, "Meaningful access" to review ballots that have already been counted. Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro says the vote count is fully transparent in addition to the presidential race, he's waiting for the results in his own re-election bid. We welcome the Attorney General. Good morning. Thanks for being with us. JOSH SHAPIRO: Good to be with you. MASON: How many votes are left to count and what kind of guideline can you give us as to what the breakdown of those votes is, Attorney General? … MASON: Is what's left to count mostly mail-in ballots and can you, do you have a sense what counties they're from? What areas? …   MASON: The President has already claimed that he's won Pennsylvania. What's your reaction to that? SHAPIRO: Well, it doesn't work that way. A candidate doesn't claim something. … MASON: The Trump campaign is asking the Supreme Court to join an appeal to throw owl mail-in ballots received up to three days after election day. Talk us through that law quickly if you can and why it exists? … MASON: All right, Mr. Attorney general, thank you so much for being with us this morning. We really appreciate it.
