Twitter, apparently, is continuing to censor the free press in America.  For the sixteenth day in a row, the New York Post’s (the Post) Twitter account still appears to be locked.  The Post responded to the ongoing Twitter lockout in an Oct. 28 article: “Twitter’s strong-arm tactics to censor The Post ever since we began reporting on Hunter Biden’s emails. First, it froze our account and banned our stories; then, amid a public backlash, it agreed to unfreeze us — but only if we deleted our original tweets.” The Post continued: “Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey sounded like every mob enforcer and shakedown artist in history: Nice paper you got there, New York Post. Shame, should something happen to it. He knows full well media outlets depend on social media, and Google search algorithms, to help readers access our reporting.” Twitter first locked the account on October 14, after the Post published an article that claimed to expose alleged corrupt dealings of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden in Ukraine. The platform initially blocked the link completely, but later reversed course. Following the controversy, Vijaya Gadde, Twitter’s legal, policy and trust safety lead, announced two changes to Twitter’s “hacked materials” policy, tweeting: “1. We will no longer remove hacked content unless it is directly shared by hackers or those acting in concert with them. 2. We will label Tweets to provide context instead of blocking links from being shared on Twitter.”  Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey retweeted Gadde’s thread, adding: “Straight blocking of URLs was wrong, and we updated our policy and enforcement to fix. Our goal is to attempt to add context, and now we have capabilities to do that.” In an Oct. 28 hearing in the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slammed Twitter for continuing to block the Post’s account. “You can censor The New York Post, you can censor Politico, you can presumably censor The New York Times or any other media outlet, Mr. Dorsey, who the hell elected you?” he fired back at the CEO.  Conservatives are under attack.
