Joe Rogan Mocks ‘I Take Responsibility’ Celebrity Video Against ‘Unchecked Racism’

Posted on 20 June 2020

Few things are as cringeworthy as the June 11 "I Take Responsibility" virtue signalling video featuring a number of  white celebrities: Sarah Paulson, Aaron Paul, Kesha, Bethany Joy Lenz, Kristen Bell, Justin Theroux, Debra Messing, Mark Duplass, Bryce Dallas Howard, Julianne Moore, Piper Perabo, Stanley Tucci, Ilana Glazer, and Aly Raisman. In the video the celebrities sanctimoniously vow to "take responsibility" for among other things explaining away "police brutality." Underneath, the video was explained: "Hollywood stars have partnered with the NAACP for this 'I Take Responsibility' PSA addressing unchecked racism". Watch the video and you will see why it received only a little over 850 thumbs up votes versus an overwhelming 43,000 plus down votes as of this writing.     As could be expected this video was widely panned but perhaps the best critique came from popular podcaster Joe Rogan (language warning).   This latest thing where all these actors have this black and white video where they're talking about racism. Later Rogan really tore into the idea of celebrities virtue signaling: You’re taking responsibility? No, you’re trying to get attention. That’s what you’re doing. ...Do you really think that as a professional actor that you’re really going to make a f***ing difference with racism, and crime, and violence, and police brutality, you should stop acting because you should go to a f***ing doctor and get your head checked. There’s something wrong with you. Of course, such an annoyingly sanctimonious celebrity video inspired a host of parody videos. Here is just one of them. Oh, and if you don't like this example then... "I take responsibility."
