Ted Cruz Calls on DOJ to Investigate “Domestic Terrorism” After Charlottesville Car Crash – Mentions NOTHING About Antifa!

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is calling for the Department of Justice to investigate the deadly Charlottesville car crash. In a Facebook post published Saturday evening, Cruz said “the Nazis, the KKK, and white supremacists are repulsive and evil, and all of us have a moral obligation to speak out against the lies, bigotry, anti-Semitism, and hatred that they propagate.”

Cruz was certainly correct in calling for an investigation into white supremacists, but wrongly ignored Antifa’s role in Saturday’s violence and in countless other instances. It’s time for the federal government to follow New Jersey’s lead in labeling Antifa a domestic terrorist organization.

It’s tragic and heartbreaking to see hatred and racism once again mar our great Nation with bloodshed. Heidi’s and my prayers are with the loved ones of those killed and injured in the ongoing violence in Charlottesville. The First Amendment protects the rights of all Americans to speak their minds peaceably, but violence, brutality, and murder have no place in a civilized society.

The Nazis, the KKK, and white supremacists are repulsive and evil, and all of us have a moral obligation to speak out against the lies, bigotry, anti-Semitism, and hatred that they propagate. Having watched the horrifying video of the car deliberately crashing into a crowd of protesters, I urge the Department of Justice to immediately investigate and prosecute this grotesque act of domestic terrorism.

These bigots want to tear our country apart, but they will fail. America is far better than this. Our Nation was built on fundamental truths, none more central than the proposition “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”.

One person is dead and 26 injured after 20-year old suspect, James Alex Fields of Ohio, rammed his car into a group of Charlottesville protesters.

At least one person is dead after a driver intentionally plowed into a group of anti-fascist protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia, following violent clashes that erupted between white nationalists and activists on Saturday.

Authorities said the deceased victim was a 32-year-old woman, whose identity has not been released pending her family’s notification.

Video shows the Dodge Challenger accelerating into the crowd throwing bodies into the air as people scream before reversing at high speed – sending another 19 people to the hospital for their injuries.

It came after violent clashes erupted as hundreds of white supremacists including armed militias marched into Charlottesville sparking violent confrontations with the counter-protesters. Police cleared the scene with tear gas but the violence continued.

The alleged driver of the car was apprehended and is currently in police custody. The car is registered to James Alex Fields, 20, of Ohio, according to The Washington Post. He was arrested a few blocks away from the bloody scene.

Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail Superintendent Martin Kumer told The Post that a man with the same name and age was booked Saturday on suspicion of second-degree murder, malicious wounding, failure to stop for an accident involving a death, and hit and run. Fields is being held without bail.

In a press conference in Bedminster, New Jersey, President Trump called on all Americans to come together amid the violent protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia.

FOX Insider reports:

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides,” the president said.

The president said that while hatred and violence erupt in Virginia there are “so many incredibly great things happening in our country,” such as economic growth.

“So when I watch Charlottesville to me it’s very, very sad.”

“We have to respect each other,” he said. “Ideally we have to love each other.”

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe declared a state of emergency this morning after the “Unite the Right” rally spiraled into rioting.

The chief executive called for a “swift restoration of law and order” in Virginia.

“It’s been going on for a long time in our country,” he continued. “Not Donald Trump, not Barack Obama. It’s been going on for a long, long time.”

“We want to get the situation straightened out in Charlottesville, and we want to study it,” Trump said. “And we want to see what we’re doing wrong as a country where things like this can happen.”

“We have to come together as Americans with love for our nation and really and I say this so strongly, with true affection for each other.”
