‘Blatant Erasure’? Black Hair Care Company Slammed for Putting White Women in Ad

Posted on 30 April 2017

The Washington Post summarized the latest "inclusion" and "diversity" controversy in the fashion world: "Shea Moisture reaches out to white women in hair products ad. Black women protest."

Many took to social media to blast the company.  One writer expressed the ad a “blatant erasure of African American women who made the brand what it is,” while another said the ad completely discredited the needs of women of color much like the slogan “All Lives Matter,” and the #allhairmatters hashtag popped up in protest.
