Colbert Mocks GOP Congresswoman, Hosts Her Democratic Opponent for Playful Interview

Posted on 30 April 2014

Wednesday’s Colbert Report, in an apparent boost to Democrats before November’s mid-term elections, mocked GOP congresswoman Renee Ellmers and hosted her Democratic opponent Clay Aiken for a friendly interview.

Host Stephen Colbert made it clear who he supports for North Carolina’s second congressional district. He mocked the “message of hope” Ellmers sent to furloughed federal workers after she voted to shut down the government and joked, “if she weren’t enough of a shoe-in already, get a load of who the Democrats are running against her.” [Video coming soon. CBS Moves on From Benghazi E-Mails Suggesting White House Cover-Up; NBC Glosses Over the Controversy

Posted on 30 April 2014

On Wednesday evening, ABC and NBC finally reported e-mails suggesting a White House post-Benghazi cover-up, although NBC’s report ignored the suggestion of a cover-up. After reporting the story on Wednesday morning, CBS ignored it in the evening.

While the ABC World News covered the e-mails in-depth, the NBC Nightly News only offered a news brief and skirted over key details like the purpose of the e-mails, which, as ABC reported, “suggest the White House blamed the attacks on an anti-Islamic video in order to deflect criticism of the President’s policies.”

CBS Executive Tries to Defend ‘Moderate’ Stephen Colbert From Attack by Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 30 April 2014

Les Moonves, chairman and chief executive officer of the CBS Corporation, responded to criticism that the network was replacing David Letterman, a liberal comedian and longtime host of the weeknight Late Show program, with Stephen Colbert, another liberal comic and host of The Colbert Report, who is likely to continue making fun of conservatives and Republicans when he leaves his Comedy Channel program to replace Letterman sometime in 2015.

“Ironically, Stephen Colbert is much more moderate than people think he is,” Moonves said on Wednesday. “He’s a great social commentator, and that’s sort of what we want. That’s sort of what David Letterman has been.”

Press Whitewashes Bloomberg Anti-Gun Group’s Pathetic Presence at Indy NRA Convention

Posted on 30 April 2014

Last weekend in Indianapolis, a reported 80,000 people attended the 143rd NRA Annual Meeting.

Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s group Everytown For Gun Safety was also present — but barely. Media coverage of that group’s activities largely tiptoed around the tiny number of people, some allegedly paid, the group was able to gather. Let’s start with a Sunday morning report from NPR’s Bill Chappell (bolds are mine throughout this post):

Networks Ignore Democrat Congressman Calling Clarence Thomas an ‘Uncle Tom’

Posted on 30 April 2014

CNN’s Jake Tapper gave a full segment to Democratic Congressman Bennie Thompson calling Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas an “Uncle Tom,” but the broadcast networks completely ignored the controversy on Wednesday evening.

The networks’ blackout of a Democrat using a racial insult against a Justice shows a clear double standard after their deluge of coverage of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s racist remarks about his players. And just last week, the networks highlighted Republicans and conservatives who supported rancher Cliven Bundy’s stand against the federal authorities but who had to backtrack after Bundy’s racist rant went public.

Matthew Lee of AP colluded with Victoria Nuland to bash Fox News, Benghazi coverage

Posted on 30 April 2014

Now we know why the Associated Press ignored the latest Benghazi e-mail bombshell. Turns out AP’s Matthew Lee colluded with Victoria Nuland on September 13th, 2012 to whine about the coverage of the Benghazi attack. Matthew Lee of the AP bashed Fox News, and those covering the Benghazi terrorist attack. Associated Press’ Matthew Lee had […]

Texas Tribune Avoids Reporting on Big Setback for Wendy Davis Campaign

Posted on 30 April 2014

The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday about a big setback for the Wendy Davis campaign for Texas governor.  The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) did not include her campaign as a top target which means it won’t be prioritized for heavy spending. The reaction from the Davis campaign could best be described as an angry hissy fit which bitterly attacked the DGA.

Pretty big political news from Texas to the extent it was covered by the Wall Street Journal. Therefore you would expect the Texas Tribune which is supposed to cover the nuts and bolts details of Texas politics to report this story. Well, as of this writing there is NADA about this at the Texas Tribune. To get an idea of how completely absurd it is for the “nonpartisan” Texas Tribune to avoid this story, first let us take a look at the the WSJ report titled “Wendy Davis’s Race in Texas Isn’t a Top Target for DGA” about that organization keeping her campaign out of the big leagues in terms of support:

Mark Levin Joins The People’s Cube

LevinShow.jpg

April 30, 2014 – (Craptek News Service) In the second hour of Mark Levin’s daily radio program he revealed his proposal for Professional Sports Justice. In a bold and far ranging monologue, Levin suggests an upper salary limit for all athletes equal to, or less than The President of The United States. “Why should millionaires and billionaires in the NBA earn more than the president?” he asks.

Furthermore, he recommends a mandatory cap on the cost of tickets, drinks, and snacks for all fans. “Why should hard working fans pay $5 for a bag of popcorn or soft drink so multi-millionaire players and their multi-billionaire team owners can live their lives in the top tenth of the 1%? Where’s the equality in that?” exclaimed Levin.

Levin continued, pointing out that, “Millionaire and billionaire players and owners didn’t build the arenas or maintain them. Well, did they? They didn’t build the roads that bring the fans to watch them play. They didn’t construct the stadiums these rich athletes use to steal the people’s hard earned money. Why should wealthy players and owners reap the benefits?”

After the program I asked Mark what caused his sudden shift from constitutional conservative to radical left wing nut job; “I ran across a Website the other day that has altered my views completely. The People’s Cube has opened my eyes. For the first in my life, comrade, I am free of the Rethuglikkkan <spit> chains of intolerance! Forward!” he chanted, grabbing a ready made protest sign and running into the street.

Gullible Buzzfeed: Relays Hillary ‘Never’ Used Her Faith As An ‘Overt Tool’ of Politics

Posted on 30 April 2014

“Clinton doesn’t talk about her faith much. She never, as [adviser Burns] Strider says, used it “as an overt tool to talk about who she is.”

Buzzfeed’s Ruby Cramer wrote this. She graduated from Vassar in 2012. So it’s fair to say that she might have few memories of the media’s “Methodist moments” during the Clinton presidency. But is Strider’s claim too good to check? Checking wouldn’t take long. Try Hillary selling her memoirs with Barbara Walters in 2003, as we wrote in Whitewash:
