Rahm Emanuel, speaking Monday with PBS’s Charlie Rose said that he would like to return to public service. Specifically running for Mayor of Chicago “….if Mayor Daley doesn’t (seek re election), one day I would like to run…”

With his record of a leadership position in the house before becoming Barack Obama’s chief adviser he has the ability to be a major player in the mayoral race. Some believe that the field of candidates would be tough to over come but Emanuel was the finance chairman for Daley’s 1989 race and his ability to do just that, raise big money would drive many from that race.

Its a race that many Democrats say if Daley runs, Daley wins. If he doesn’t run he would probably be very likely to pass the torch to Mr. Emanuel.

Others think that the Senate seat would be his for the taking although he would have to run a primary against either Gov. Pat Dixon(D) or Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias (D). IF he would wait that long to get back into the spotlight remains to be seen, but he would be a force to be reckoned with where ever he sets his sites. Rahm Emanuel has the tenacity of a pit bull and the connections built over a lifetime.

It isn’t unusual for advisers tenures to be short lived in Washington and it seems that Mr. Emanuel is telegraphing a bit. Time will tell if he is dipping his toes in the political waters again. 2016 or 2020 isn’t that far away for a man of his ambition.

See,I told ya! As I watched McLaughlin Group tonight, the prediction from John McLaughlin was that Rahm would be the next mayor of Chicago. Listen to your Ringmaster and watch him go!
